Cassie and Darin were married at her mother’s home on a warm, sunny evening in Palisade, Colorado — the heart of Colorado’s wine country. With about 150 family members and friends coming in from all over the country, it was also a really fun party!

Cassie has great style, which was obvious when I saw her red wedding heels!

Cassie’s flowers by 3 Leaf Floral were a beautiful combination of autumn blooms.I liked these portraits of Cassie with her parents before the wedding. Everyone was so happy and joyous and excited for her.
I loved this shot of Cassie and her dad watching guests take their seats just before their walk down the aisle.

A few portraits with their sweet daughter.Palisade is blessed with gorgeous sunset light. The surrounding mountains light up, and I swear the sky is more blue here than anywhere in the Grand Valley.I always love a little sun flare. We have great light in Colorado!Cupcakes by The Baker’s Boutique were as good as they looked.Dancing photos can be really fun, and these guests were the life of the party.

Palisade is a picture perfect charming small town in the springtime. The orchards are coming alive with fruit blossoms, and the sun takes its time creeping into the valley in the evenings, making for gorgeous warm light for engagement sessions like Eddie and Crystal’s.

This adorable couple became engaged last fall. In fact, Eddie called me before he proposed to Crystal to make sure I was available for an engagement session this spring. (Now that’s a guy who plans ahead!) Eddie is the handsome meteorologist on KJCT-8, and his lovely bride-to-be is graduating from CMU this month. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding next summer in Philadelphia, and was equally excited to photograph their engagement session in Palisade last weekend. Crystal has great style and really put it together so well, and Eddie was so great about going along for this romantic ride.

We started downtown in Palisade for some traditional shots…

… and also a few non-traditional photos, like this one I sneak peeked for them a few days ago. We had so much fun during this shoot! A shout out to Brown Cycles in Grand Junction for lending the cruiser bike for this shoot.

Next we drove out to Z’s Orchard for some photos in the fruit orchards. Carol is incredibly sweet and you can find them all summer at farmer’s markets in Palisade, Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs. They are also planning to open up a tasting room at their orchard in Palisade. So fun!

I don’t think these two could be any cuter… or nicer. I really loved photographing their adorable personalities.Crystal has great style, and she found this gorgeous vintage tea length salmon-colored dress from a seller on Etsy. It was the perfect color and choice for her. So romantic!I’m a sucker for an old car! This one was perfect for these two.

This shot on the right is probably my favorite from the session. Eddie was so sweet all day telling me how beautiful and thoughtful and talented his bride-to-be is. Every girl should be so lucky to be as appreciated as Crystal is.

Crystal and Eddie were engaged at Canyon Winds in Palisade, so they brought along the inscribed wine they received on their engagement night.

Crystal and Eddie, thanks for asking me to capture your engagement for you! It was so much fun and truly my honor.

It’s always so much fun to see a couple’s vision come together on their wedding day — and more specifically, a bride’s vision.

Let’s face it, we ladies know what we like and what we want. Audra knew what she wanted: a rustic, vintage-inspired affair that treated family and guests to an experience they would always remember. So, she enlisted Robin Brown Events to style the day, and Three Leaf Floral Design to create fabulous bouquets. It was so wonderful when Audra walked into the Flying Dog Ranch barn where the reception was held with tears in her eyes and said, “This is exactly how I envisioned it.”

The day was beyond beautiful of course, and Audra and Andrew’s portraits in the Colorado wildflower garden at Flying Dog Ranch are truly some of my all-time favorite sunset wedding portraits. I am so happy for Audra and Andrew that The Knot felt it was a beautiful wedding, too. It’s always fun to see weddings published!

Such fun to have Natalie McCary gracing the studio’s billboard (above) now on display at 24 & Patterson Roads, right next to Crossroads Wine & Spirits. I drive by it nearly every day when I head up to the Redlands, and I find her beautiful smile puts one on my face as well. It’s always nice to see a smart, confident girl on a billboard, I think. You will be seeing Natalie’s smile through the end of June!

Our high school class of 2013 graduates in just a few short weeks, and I am happy to say we are now scheduling graduating seniors from the class of 2014 for their senior pictures! We had so much fun with the class of 2013, and we are looking forward to meeting this year’s young men and women as they take off into their senior year of high school.

Drew and I absolutely love being at the ocean. It’s funny that we were born and raised a mile high and 1,000 miles east of the California coast, because we always feel at home when we are there. We love the weather and cultural melting pot, and especially the beach. Despite the loads of people and astronomical prices for everything, we truly do love southern California and try to go at least once a year to visit family and friends.

This past fall we were in Carlsbad just north of San Diego after a family wedding in Palm Springs. We stayed with Auntie Susan, who is Drew’s late mom’s best friend in the world. Susan is amazing in so many ways, and she has a fabulous house on Shore Drive. As soon as we pulled up to the house, Elliot ran inside, down the balcony steps, and straight into the ocean. We chased the kids down to the beach with my camera and their swimsuits so I could photograph them running into the surf at sunset. It was so much fun!

I loved watching Elliot and Chloe play together in the surf, with Oliver cautiously watching from the shore. Elliot and Chloe have a special relationship that reveals itself in times like these, when they are both full of JOY.

Elliot loves the ocean more than just about anything. Watching him at the beach makes me think we might move here someday.

I have photographed Beth and Sam’s beautiful family a few times before, namely for Beth’s maternity photos, and then daughter Cora’s newborn photos. I don’t know how to express how downright nice Beth and Sam are other than to show you their photos from these two sessions.

Congratulations to Beth and Sam on their new little baby boy, Caleb, and to Cora on becoming a big sister. You’re already great at it!

A few photos taken late last summer in Ridway near Ouray, Colorado. It’s one of my favorite places in the world.

And then a few months later, here we are meeting on a windy March day just before Easter for Caleb’s first photo shoot. Ladies and gentlemen – a future cowboy right here.

Beth and Sam are so tender with each other and their kids. It’s very sweet to see all of them together.

I love this combination of Sam’s cowboy Wranglers and Cora’s pink trainers.
